FAQ

General

For any type of session, please start by filling out our contact page. For weddings and elopements, we’ll schedule a quick call to go over details, answer questions, and ensure we make a great fit. For all other sessions (portrait, engagement, steamy), we’ll share our availability and info via email. Once we’ve settled on a date, we’ll send a contract and payment info your way. To confirm and book your session, we require a 50% retainer due at signing. For weddings, the remaining balance is due 3 months prior to your date. For all other session types, the remainder is due 1 month prior to your date.

Generally, yes! Get in touch (via the contact form) and we’ll chat about options.

Engagement photos can be completed in one hour, but we typically recommend a two hour session in order to have more time for outfit changes, locations and a bit more creativity!

Most importantly, you should wear whatever you feel great in. Being your true self is the best thing you can do to make sure you feel comfortable and love your photos. Beyond that, neutral tones (maybe with pops of your favorite colors) photograph well and outfits should feel aligned but not matching. Here is a sample Pinterest board with outfit ideas.

Pets are always welcome (unless prohibited by the location).  It can be helpful to have an extra hand for your pet during your session, but not required (we LOVE dogs!).

We classify elopements as events with no more than 10 guests.

Portrait + engagement: you’ll receive sneak-peeks within 4 days, and your full gallery in 4-6 weeks.

Wedding + elopement: you’ll receive sneak-peeks within 3 days of your event, and your full gallery within 6-8 weeks.

Typically, you can expect between 75-100 edited images per hour of photography; we also include about 20% black + white copies.

Images will be delivered via an online gallery.  Pic-Time galleries allow for unlimited web-sized + high resolution downloads (to your desktop, tablet, mobile).  Pic-Time also has an excellent print shop, where you can order prints, canvas, albums and more directly from your gallery.  Galleries can be shared, and you can choose which images you share.

Pricing

We do not charge travel fees for locations in Northern CA + the Denver area (within 2 hours of Denver).

Travel fees may apply, depending on our availability and your location.  Contact us to see what we can work out!

We require a retainer of 50% of the cost of your session within 1 week of signing.

Yes!  Fifty percent of your total is due at signing in order to secure your date. A payment plan can be made for the remainder of your balance.

Retainers are non-refundable but are 100% transferable to another available date!

Yes, we are able to offer a limited amount of sliding scale services each year.  We always want to make sure our services are accessible to everyone; please share a little bit about yourselves in our contact form, and what your budget is for your session (portrait/engagement, wedding, elopement).
We’ll be in touch within 48 hours!

Services

Absolutely!  Meg is available as a second photographer for a limited number of events, and otherwise we add excellent associates to our team when needed.

2nd photographers are $200/hour, with a 2 hour minimum.

We do not currently offer videography but we’re happy to share referrals for wonderful team members we’ve worked with in the past, and we also love working with new videographers!

We do! Meg is licensed to marry couples in most states and has loved performing traditional and non-traditional wedding and elopement services to many couples.

Also, if you’re eloping in CO, you can ‘self-solemnize’ which means you can marry yourself.  You can also have your pet stamp it’s paw as witness (legally–thanks Colorado for being so cool!).

We do not book vendors, but love to share referrals. Let us know what you’re looking for – maybe we can help!

Absolutely! We send over our questionnaire first to better get to know what you’re looking for as far as: accessibility, features, seasonality, weather, etc.  We then can share our recommendations and help you narrow down the perfect location.

Gear, Contingency, Etc

We currently use 2 Canon R5 mirrorless cameras, and one Canon 5DM4. We use a variety of Canon lenses, off camera studio lights, and diffusion filters.

We have multiple camera bodies, lenses, batteries, flash, and more, just in case of failure/breakage.

All of our cameras use dual card slots, which means your images are automatically copied as soon as the photo is taken. After that, we backup to our hard drives, and to our cloud immediately after your event.

If the weather is forecasted to be dangerous (very high winds, lighting, hail, flooding, etc), we will reschedule the session to a different time on the same date, or a different date with mutual availability. Otherwise, we have clear umbrellas that we’ll bring if there’s rain, we’ll take breaks if it’s too cold, and we’ll check-in about comfort levels to make sure you’re having a great time–some of our absolute favorite images were created during not-so-great weather!

Yikes!  This is no one’s ideal situation, but we’ve got it covered.

We would let you know immediately, and share with you the associate coverage that we’ve found.  We only select the best of the best, inclusive, and talented photographers, and have a large network of associates across the country.  We’d fill them in on all the details, arrange a call all together (if needed), and then we would handle all editing/delivery/communication post event.
